. . . . . :D

I am ready to convert 100/66/L to front disk brakes. It now has stock 1959 drum brakes.

I need the hard parts, or at least the part numbers, size, make and year of bits that will work together.

ie: uprights (vertical link)
stub axle
upper ball joint
lower trunnion
hub for 4" bc, stock Courier 14" rim
caliper
caliper bracket … custom?
rotor
pads
master cylinder … 0.70 or 0.75 or ?

I would certainly consider good used parts.
Please chime in if I am leaving a critical piece off the list.

Thanks for your help.

We have Spitfire discs on our Mk6. I am happy to help identify anything you need. We have two different types of uprights. We've also learned the hard way that there are different lower trunions. And they put the suspension in different locations! I'll provide more, including pictures, later.

Best I can tell, we have all that parts from this Moss Motors diagram:

That is, 11 through 20.

Here are pictures. Note that this picture shows the older style upright that was on the Elva from the factory. As far as I know, that's also what the Spitfires later had. But there is also another, newer Spitfire upright that doesn't have that thin rib down the length of it - instead it is a larger round arm. I don't know which is stronger. The later one has the caliper mounts built into it. The one in the picture has a bolted on mount. We have both.

I have seen comments online about different uprights that have a zirc fitting at the bottom that feeds the brass trunion. It sounds like some people way those don't work and putting the wrong grease in there can cause problems. I haven't focused on that issue, but plan on when we get closer to reassembling the car.

Thanks Jay

All I need are hubs, 4 on 4" to keep Elva / Sprite rims

or TR Spitfire hubs and 13" rims

As Joe W. has stated, the steering arms on Courier 66L are behind the axle centerline; the TR Spitfire steers in front of the axle.

Are the uprights swapped L to RH sides, or just the steering arms?
Do I use the Courier uprights or Spitfire parts in order to mount disk-brake calipers?

What am I missing here?
